The UPSC CAPF AC Selection Process 2027 is expected to move through several stages: Written Examination → Physical Standards Test/Physical Efficiency Test → Interview/Personality Test → Medical Standards Test → Final Merit. But there is an important update candidates should understand first. As of 5 October 2026, UPSC has not released the detailed CAPF AC 2027 notification. The official UPSC Annual Calendar 2027 currently schedules the CAPF notification for 17 February 2027, the application deadline for 9 March 2027, and the written examination for 4 July 2027. UPSC also states that calendar dates can be altered if circumstances require. UPSCTherefore, the detailed selection process explained below is based on the latest official CAPF AC 2026 notification. Candidates must verify the final 2027 rules once UPSC publishes the new notification.Latest Update — 5 October 2026ParticularStatusCAPF AC 2027 Detailed NotificationNot released yetNotification Date17 February 2027 — UPSC CalendarLast Date to Apply9 March 2027 — UPSC CalendarWritten Exam Date4 July 2027 — UPSC Calendar2027 VacanciesNot announcedDetailed 2027 PET/PST RulesNot announcedCurrent Selection ReferenceOfficial CAPF AC 2026 NotificationUPSC has already published the 2027 annual examination calendar, but CAPF AC 2027 is not yet an active notified examination. CAPF AC Selection Process 2027 at a Glance Based on the latest official scheme, the selection journey can be understood as:Stage 1 — Written ExaminationPaper I: 250 marks + Paper II: 200 marks↓Stage 2 — PST/PETPhysical Standards + Physical Efficiency Tests↓Stage 3 — Interview/Personality Test150 marks↓Stage 4 — Medical Standards Test↓Final MeritWritten Examination + InterviewThe latest official notification clearly states that final merit is prepared using marks obtained in the Written Examination and Interview/Personality Test. This means candidates should understand an important distinction:PET/PST and Medical Standards are crucial qualifying stages, but they do not directly add marks to the final merit score under the latest scheme. Stage 1: CAPF Written Examination The written examination is the first major filtering stage.Under the latest official CAPF scheme, it consists of two papers.PaperSubjectMarksDurationPaper IGeneral Ability and Intelligence2502 HoursPaper IIGeneral Studies, Essay and Comprehension2003 HoursTotal 450 Paper I is objective and is set in both Hindi and English. Paper II is descriptive. Candidates may write the Essay component in English or Hindi, but Précis, Comprehension and other communication/language components must be attempted in English. UPSC An Important Rule Many Students Miss UPSC evaluates Paper I first.Paper II is evaluated only for candidates who obtain the minimum qualifying standard fixed by the Commission in Paper I. UPSC also prescribes separate qualifying standards for both papers. UPSCThis creates a two-part strategy:Paper I gets your Paper II evaluated.Paper II can significantly influence your final merit. That is why postponing descriptive preparation until after Paper I preparation is complete is risky. Is There Negative Marking in CAPF Paper I? Under the latest official rules, yes.For every incorrect answer in the objective paper, one-third (0.33) of the marks assigned to that question is deducted. No penalty applies to an unanswered question. UPSCSo Paper I preparation should not focus only on attempts. It should focus on:Attempts + Accuracy + Question SelectionFor structured Paper I practice, HeMantra’s ABHYAS MANTHAN 2027 currently includes sectional, multi-sectional and full-length tests along with detailed solutions and performance analysis.Explore ABHYAS MANTHAN 2027 Stage 2: CAPF PST — Physical Standards Test After qualifying the written examination, candidates are called for the Physical Standards Test (PST) and Physical Efficiency Test (PET).The exact 2027 standards will be confirmed only in the 2027 notification. For reference, the latest 2026 notification prescribes:Physical StandardMenWomenHeight165 cm157 cmChest81 cm + minimum 5 cm expansionNot applicableMinimum Weight50 kg46 kgUPSC also prescribes height- and age-linked weight standards and detailed medical conditions beyond these minimum figures. UPSCHeMantra Preparation InsightDo not wait for the written result before checking whether you meet the physical standards.A student can prepare for Paper I and Paper II for a year, clear the written examination and still face difficulty at the physical stage if basic eligibility has been ignored.Check your height, weight and physical fitness early. Stage 3: CAPF Physical Efficiency Test — PET Candidates who satisfy the prescribed physical standards are put through the PET.According to the latest official standards:PET EventMenWomen100 Metres16 seconds18 seconds800 Metres3 min 45 sec4 min 45 secLong Jump3.5 metres3 metresLong Jump Attempts33Shot Put — 7.26 kg4.5 metres, 3 attemptsNot applicableThese are the 2026 official standards, not yet confirmed 2027 standards Is CAPF PET Qualifying or Does It Carry Marks? Under the latest selection scheme, PET/PST marks are not added to final merit. But calling the physical stage “unimportant” would be a serious mistake. If you fail to meet the qualifying physical requirements, you cannot simply compensate with higher written marks. For most aspirants, therefore:Written preparation and physical preparation should run together.Even two or three running sessions every week from the beginning are better than trying to build endurance immediately after the written result. Stage 4: CAPF Interview/Personality Test Candidates declared qualified in the PST/PET are called for the UPSC Interview/Personality Test.Under the latest scheme:Interview Marks: 150The Interview is conducted by UPSC and carries substantial weight because these marks are directly included in final merit. UPSCCandidates should therefore not think:“Written clear ho gaya, ab selection almost done hai.”The interview represents 150 out of the 600 merit marks under the latest scheme.A difference of even 20–30 marks in the Personality Test can significantly affect final ranking and potentially force allocation. What Does the CAPF Interview Test? The official notice labels it the Interview/Personality Test, so candidates should expect assessment beyond factual General Knowledge.Preparation should broadly include:Personal background and Detailed Application FormWhy CAPF/Assistant Commandant?Force preferencesGraduation subjectHometown and stateNational securityInternal securityBorder managementCurrent affairsLeadership situationsDecision-makingEthics and integrityCAPFs and their rolesPersonality, communication and composureA CAPF Assistant Commandant is being selected for a Group A leadership position, so the interview should be approached as an officer-suitability assessment rather than another written GK test. Where Does the Medical Examination Come? This is an area where many online articles oversimplify the sequence.According to the latest 2026 official UPSC scheme, candidates who qualify PST/PET are called for Interview, and Medical Standards Tests are conducted in respect of candidates who have appeared in the Interview/Personality Test. Therefore, based strictly on the latest official scheme:Written → PST/PET → Interview → Medical Standards Test → Final AppointmentThe detailed 2027 notification must be checked for the exact procedure applicable to the 2027 cycle.Candidates found medically unfit under the prescribed standards cannot be appointed even if they otherwise perform well in the merit-bearing stages. UPSC CAPF Medical Standards: What Is Checked? CAPF medical requirements are detailed and should not be reduced to eyesight alone. The latest notification covers areas including:eyesight, refractive error, colour perception, hearing, carrying angle, teeth, limbs and joints, chronic medical conditions, knock knees, flat feet, varicose veins and general physical fitness. The 2026 rules also permit LASIK subject to specified conditions, including parameters relating to age, axial length, corneal thickness and postoperative stability. If you have an existing medical concern, read the official medical standards rather than relying on Telegram messages or old YouTube comments. How Is the CAPF Final Merit List Prepared? This is the most important part of the selection process.Under the latest scheme:Written Examination = 450 MarksInterview = 150 MarksFinal Merit = 600 MarksPET/PST and medical fitness remain mandatory, but final ranking is drawn from Written Examination + Interview marks. UPSCIf two candidates obtain the same final marks, the latest UPSC tie-breaking rules first prefer the candidate with higher total written marks; if still tied, higher Paper I marks are considered, followed by age. UPSCForce allocation is then linked to the candidate's merit position and submitted force preferences under the latest rules. Why Paper II Can Become a Selection-Deciding Stage A common mistake in CAPF preparation is giving nearly all attention to Paper I because it comes first in evaluation. But final merit does not contain only Paper I.It contains:Paper I + Paper II + InterviewPaper II contributes 200 marks under the current scheme.Unlike many factual Paper I topics, descriptive writing is a skill. Essay structure, analytical arguments, précis, comprehension and English expression improve only through repeated writing and evaluation. For this reason, HeMantra recommends beginning Paper II alongside Paper I, rather than after the written-exam notification or in the last few weeks.HeMantra’s ABHYAS LEKHAN 2027 is specifically focused on CAPF Paper II preparation, including essay, précis, comprehension, argument writing and evaluated practice. Explore ABHYAS LEKHAN 2027For the broader preparation system covering Paper I and Paper II, candidates can also use HeMantra’s current UPSC CAPF AC Online Preparation 2027 guide. Read the CAPF AC Online Preparation 2027 Guide A Better CAPF 2027 Preparation Sequence Do not prepare each stage only after clearing the previous one.A better approach is:From the beginning: Paper I + Paper IIAlongside study: Basic running and physical conditioningBefore written result: Know PST and medical standardsAfter written exam: Increase PET intensityAfter written qualification: DAF/profile + interview preparationBefore medical: Review official medical requirementsThis prevents one of the most frustrating outcomes in CAPF preparation—clearing one difficult stage only to discover that the next stage was ignored completely. Final Takeaway The UPSC CAPF AC Selection Process 2027 should not be viewed as a single written examination. It is a multi-stage officer-selection process:Written Exam → PST/PET → Interview → Medical → Final MeritThe most important strategic point is that Paper I, Paper II and the Interview determine your merit, while physical and medical standards determine whether you remain eligible to continue and ultimately be appointed. So do not prepare sequentially.Prepare intelligently:Paper I for qualification and score.Paper II for final merit.PET for survival in the selection process.Interview for rank.Medical standards for final eligibility. And remember: the detailed 2027 notification is still awaited. Until it is published, use the current scheme for preparation—but treat the official 2027 notification as final wherever any rule changes.HeMantra — Building the Foundation
