The DHC JJA Typing Test 2026 is Stage-III of the Delhi High Court Junior Judicial Assistant/Restorer recruitment process. After qualifying the Mains examination, shortlisted candidates must clear this stage before moving to the Interview.Unlike the descriptive examination, Stage-III does not test essay writing, grammar or translation. It tests whether a candidate can maintain the required English typing speed while keeping mistakes within the permissible limit.According to the official Delhi High Court recruitment notice, the test has three numbers every candidate should remember:35 WPM + 10 Minutes + Maximum 3% MistakesDelhi High Court has also specified that the “characters with space” criterion will be adopted for calculating typing speed.Candidates who want to understand how Stage-II connects with the next stages can first read the Delhi High Court JJA Mains 2026: Pattern, PYQs & Strategy. Latest Update — 17 October 2026 The DHC JJA/Restorer Stage-II Mains Examination was scheduled for 4 October 2026. Candidates should therefore wait for the official notice rather than relying on unofficial dates.Check Delhi High Court Job Openings DHC JJA Typing Test 2026: Official Rules at a Glance ParticularOfficial RequirementStageStage-IIITestEnglish Typing TestModeComputerDuration10 MinutesMinimum Speed35 WPMSpeed CriterionCharacters with SpaceMaximum Permissible Mistakes3% of Total Words TypedNatureQualifyingNext StageInterviewThese are the core rules prescribed in the official recruitment scheme.Official DHC JJA/Restorer 2026 Vacancy Notice What Does 35 WPM Mean in DHC JJA Typing Test? Candidates must achieve a minimum speed of 35 words per minute in English typing on computer.Since the test lasts for 10 minutes, candidates should be able to maintain their typing rhythm throughout the entire test rather than achieving 35 WPM only during a short one-minute practice session. This distinction is important.A candidate may type at 40–45 WPM for one minute but experience a decline in speed after five or six minutes because of fatigue, errors or loss of concentration. Therefore, DHC JJA aspirants should practise using full 10-minute passages regularly. For a broader understanding of the examination standard, candidates can also refer to the Delhi High Court JJA Previous Year Question Papers. How Is Typing Speed Calculated in DHC JJA? The official notification specifically states that Delhi High Court will use the:“Characters with space” criterionfor calculating typing speed. This is important because candidates should not blindly compare the WPM displayed by every online typing website with the official examination standard.Different typing platforms may use different calculation methods. For your preparation, focus on:consistent keyboard control, correct spaces, complete words, punctuation, minimal corrections, andstable performance for the full 10 minutes.Once Delhi High Court issues detailed Stage-III instructions or an admit card containing software-specific directions, those instructions should take priority over assumptions based on third-party typing platforms. How Many Mistakes Are Allowed in DHC JJA Typing Test? The maximum permissible mistakes are:3% of the total words typedThis is an official rule, not a recommended accuracy target. For example:Total Words Typed3% Figure30093209.634010.24001242512.75Delhi High Court has also prescribed a rounding method for the permissible-mistake figure. A decimal from 0.01 to 0.49 is rounded to 0.5, while a decimal from 0.51 to 0.99 is rounded to 1.0. Candidates should follow the official rule when interpreting the permissible number of mistakes. The safest preparation approach is not to practise at the maximum allowable error limit.Treat 3% as the ceiling, not your target. If your regular practice error rate stays well below 3%, you retain some margin for examination-day pressure. Is 35 WPM Enough to Qualify? 35 WPM is the official minimum speed requirement. However, practising at exactly 35 WPM gives you little room for a temporary drop in performance. An unfamiliar keyboard, nervousness, difficult words or corrections can reduce your actual speed. For preparation, a useful progression is:30 WPM → 35 WPM → 38 WPM → 40+ WPMA candidate consistently maintaining around 40–45 WPM with strong accuracy may have a better safety margin. However, this is only a HeMantra preparation recommendation.Delhi High Court has prescribed 35 WPM, not 40 or 45 WPM. Does Accuracy Matter If You Type Above 35 WPM? Yes.Typing at 45 or 50 WPM does not give you unlimited freedom to make mistakes. The recruitment notice separately prescribes the maximum permissible mistake level of 3%.Therefore, preparation should not become a race for the highest WPM score.Consider two candidates:Candidate A: 50 WPM with frequent errorsCandidate B: 40 WPM with controlled errorsCandidate B may have a much safer qualifying profile because the test evaluates speed within a defined mistake limit. The ideal sequence is:Accuracy → 35 WPM → Speed Buffer → 10-Minute Consistency How Should You Practise for the 10-Minute Typing Test? A simple daily practice session can be sufficient if it is consistent.5 Minutes — Warm-UpType slowly and concentrate on finger placement and rhythm.10 Minutes — Accuracy PracticeType at a comfortable speed while trying to minimise spelling and spacing errors.10 Minutes — DHC SimulationAttempt one uninterrupted 10-minute passage.5 Minutes — Error AnalysisCheck where you:skipped words, added words, made spelling errors, used incorrect spacing, orrepeatedly lost typing rhythm.Your improvement cycle should be:Type → Check → Correct → Retest Build Your Typing Foundation with HeMantra Candidates who are struggling with keyboard familiarity, touch typing, WPM improvement or accuracy can use the HeMantra Typing Master: From Beginner to Pro.The course focuses on correct finger placement, touch typing, speed building, accuracy improvement, error reduction and timed typing practice. For DHC JJA, use structured typing practice to build the basic skill first and then shift towards 10-minute exam simulations at 35+ WPM with controlled mistakes. Is the DHC JJA Typing Test Qualifying? Yes.Stage-III is a qualifying stage.Candidates who successfully qualify the English Typing Test are called for Stage-IV: Interview. The official recruitment scheme further provides that the final merit list will be prepared using marks obtained in:Stage-II Mains + Stage-IV InterviewStage-I Preliminary Examination and Stage-III Typing Test are qualifying in nature. So even though typing marks are not added to final merit, failing Stage-III means a candidate cannot proceed to the Interview.Once your typing performance becomes stable, you can understand the final stage through the Delhi High Court JJA Interview Experience 2026.
