Complete SCI JCA 2026 Selection Process The recruitment has four major testing components.1. Objective Type Test100 questions | 100 marks | 90 minutesCandidates need at least 50 marks to qualify under the notified scheme. There is also negative marking of 0.25 mark for every incorrect answer. English Typing Speed TestCandidates must type at a minimum speed of 35 WPM.Duration: 10 minutesMaximum Marks: 50Qualifying Marks: 25Mistakes permitted: 3% of total words typed. 3. Descriptive English TestThe descriptive examination will contain:Comprehension Passage + Precis Writing + Essay WritingDuration: 2 hoursMaximum Marks: 100Qualifying Marks: 50. 4. InterviewMaximum Marks: 25Minimum Qualifying Marks: 13. Shortlisting Rule You Should Know If a large number of candidates score the minimum qualifying marks in the objective examination, candidates can be shortlisted for the next stage in a ratio of 1:10 against the tentative vacancies, based on merit. With 250 tentative vacancies, that provision could mean approximately 2,500 candidates, subject to the actual application pool and merit position.Candidates who clear the objective stage move towards the Typing Test and Descriptive Test. Importantly, the Descriptive Test answer sheet will be evaluated only for candidates who qualify the Typing Speed Test. For the Interview, candidates who qualify all three tests can be shortlisted in the ratio of 1:3 against the tentative vacancies. This makes the typing test much more important than many students assume. SCI JCA Application Dates 2026 Online registration starts on:7 October 2026The last date to submit the online application is:28 October 2026 at 11:55 PMThe application will be submitted online through the Supreme Court recruitment system.Do not wait until the final day.The notification also makes it clear that once an application is finally submitted, it cannot be withdrawn or modified. Application Fee The fee has also increased compared with the previous recruitment. For 2026:General/Unreserved: ₹1,500SC/ST/OBC-NCL/Ex-Servicemen/Physically Challenged: ₹750Bank charges are additional, and the fee is non-refundable.For comparison, the 2025 notification prescribed ₹1,000 for General/OBC candidates and ₹250 for specified reserved categories. SCI JCA Exam Date 2026 The Supreme Court has already provided a tentative date for the first stage. Objective Type Test: 20 November 2026Dates for the Typing Test, Descriptive Examination and Interview will be notified separately on the Supreme Court website. The notification also states that the answer key is scheduled to be uploaded on 22 November 2026, with the tentative objection window running from 22 to 23 November 2026, up to 11:55 PM. How Should You Prepare After the Pattern Change? The preparation hierarchy should now be:First — Understand the New PatternDo not rely blindly on an old 2025 strategy PDF.Second — Start Supreme Court-Specific SubjectsThe Constitution's judiciary-related provisions and the two Supreme Court rule-based areas together account for 35 questions. These deserve daily preparation from the beginning.Third — Use PYQs for the Core SubjectsEnglish, Aptitude, GK and Computer remain important, but PYQs can help identify the level and recurring concepts instead of studying unlimited material.HeMantra provides a dedicated SCI PYQs Master Course with detailed solutions. The course focuses on authentic previous-year questions, topic trends, explanations, speed and exam-oriented practice.Fourth — Do Not Postpone TypingTyping is not something to begin after clearing Stage I.Because the Descriptive Test is evaluated only after qualifying the Typing Speed Test, students should work towards 35+ WPM with accuracy from the beginning.Fifth — Start Descriptive Preparation EarlyEssay, précis and comprehension require practice. They cannot be mastered through a few days of reading after the typing result.
